Your account help

Overview

The 'Your Account' page is where you control your Celection account. From here you can read your messages and notifications, manage your gallery photos and your challenges and write your blog.
You're presented with an overview of each aspect of your account you can manage.

Your details

This shows you the status of your account, including what type of an account you have and what your current scores are on the site.
If you have a gold account then you can change your avatar.
You can also apply to become a here.

Click edit your account settings to access the pages that you can modify your public profile and other site preferences on. Below is a list of actions you can take on each section:

About you

This section allows you to provide information about yourself to other members. Only the highlighted information will be displayed to all visitors to your public profile. The other fields can only be seen by members with an enhanced account.
All the fields are optional apart from the date of birth and the gender.

Contact information

If you want to you can provide contact details so other members can get in touch with you by other means. Naturally you should always be cautious about providing these details. This information is optional and can only be seen by members with an enhanced account.

Account settings

Here you can change you account name, your main login/email address or your password. You can also change some settings which affect how the site works for you. You only need to enter your password if you're changing it.

  • Notifications: specify how you want to recieve system notifications; through your notifications inbox, by email to your login email address or both methods.
  • Forum reply notification: choose whether or not to receive a notification if someone replys to a forum thread you started.
  • Received comment notifications: choose whether or not to receive a notification if someone comments on your photo, blog entry or challenge.
  • Comment replied-to notifications: choose whether or not to receive a notification if a reply is made to one of the comments you posted.
  • Receive site news emails: choose whether or not to be on the mailing list for any newsletter emails the site may send from time to time.
  • Appear in member listings: choose whether or not you appear or can be searched for in the member directory.
If you decide that you no longer wish to be a member of the site, you're able to delete your account from this page too.

Your messages

This section tells you how many private messages or notifications you have. Click the links to access the appropriate inbox.
Private messages are messages sent to you by other members.
Notifications are messages sent to you by the system to alert you to something that's happend that affects you, such as when people comment on your posts or a post of yours has been moderated. You can change which notifications you receive and how you receive them on your account settings page.

When you access your inbox you will be able to see an index for your private messages, sent messages and notifications.
You're able to search your private message inbox and sent message for keywords or members.
You're able to delete messages from your private message inbox and notification inbox, but not from your sent message folder.

Your photos

This section gives you an overview of the photos you've uploaded to the website. Photos can have a different status; pending, active, moderated or excess.

Active photos

These are the photos that appear in the gallery.
Click the link to show thumnails of your active entries. Click 'edit' under a thumbnail to go to the editing page for that photo, where you'll be able to alter the title, description, category or tags for it. You can also delete the photo from the editing page.
If you have a gold account you can also see how many people liked your photo by clicking on its 'I like this photo!' link.

Pending photos

If you uploaded an image and chose to defer placing it in the gallery, it will show up here. In this section you're able to edit the photo details, move the photo to the gallery or delete it.

Moderated photos

If your photo somehow broke the site upload rules then your photo will have been moved from the gallery into this section.
In this section you'll be able to delete the photo or, if you disagree with the removal of the photo, make an appeal to the site moderators to get it restored.
If you have too many photos moderated at the same time then your ability to upload more photos will be automatically disabled.

Excess photos

Your portfolio has a limit to how many photos you can have in the gallery depending on the status of your account.
Normal accounts have a limit of 150, enhanced accounts 300 and gold accounts 1000.
If your account status goes down a level and you have more active photos than your new limit allows, then the most recently posted photos up to that limit remain in the gallery and the rest are moved to this section.
From this section you are able to delete the photos, or if your account is upgraded again or you've made space in your portfolio, you can easily move the photos back to the gallery.

Uploading a photo

Click the upload a new photo link to upload your photo.
Your photo must be in either JPEG or PNG format and the file size must be under 3 MB.

You need to read and accept to the terms and conditions before uploading your photo.
When you upload a photo it will be resized (if it's bigger than the size used in the gallery). If the photo is big enough, a hi-res version will also be produced which can be viewed by members with a gold accounts.
You'll be presented with a preview of the resized photo. At this stage you can choose where to place the site logo watermark, or rotate the photo if it isn't aligned properly. If you're not happy with the image or it hasn't uploaded correctly, you can abort the process and the image will be deleted.
Once you confirm that the image is okay you'll move to the categorisation page where you must choose the category to place the photo in and give the photo a title.
You can also choose to give the photo a fuller description and tag it if you wish. Providing a description and tagging the photo will help other members find your photo more easily when it's in the archives, otherwise it will probably be lost amongst the tens of thousands of other archived photos.

Once you've filled in required details, you can choose to place the photo into the gallery, delete the photo or defer that decision until another time. Defering the decision will place the entry into 'pending' status, and it will appear on the 'pending photos' page in 'Your photos'.
Accepting the entry instantly places it into the gallery.

There is a limit to how many photographs you can upload within a 24 hour period. Normal members may upload 5 photos each 24 hours, whereas members with an enhanced account are able to upload 10 photos and gold account members can upload 30.

Please read the terms and conditions when you upload the photograph. Entries breaking the terms and conditions will be moderated. Accounts with a large number of moderated photos will have the ability to upload disabled.

Your blog

This section gives you a quick overview of your blog (if you have one). It shows the name (which you can edit from here), the number of entries and the date of the last entry.
Click on 'add a new blog entry' to write a new entry or 'start a blog' to begine one.

Your challenges

This section shows a summary of all the challenges that you've created.

If you have any challenges that need judging then that summary will be highlighted.

You will also have a summary of any challenges still open and those that you have already judged.
Clicking one of the links will take you to the list of your challenges with that status.

If you've entered any challenges then there will be a summary of how many you've entered or won. Click the link to take you to a full listing of those challenges.

Your favourites

This section tells you how many photos that you like (by clicking on the 'I like this photo!' option).
Click the link to take you to a gallery of the photos that you liked. If you have a gold account you can see all the photos that you liked, otherwise you'll only see the last 8 photos that you chose.

Your friends

This section gives you an overview of how many friends you have, how many people have asked to be your friend and how many people you've asked to be friends with.
Click the link to access the management page where you can see all your friends and grant or reject friendship requests or cancel and requests you've made.

Requesting friendship and accepting a request will send a notification to that member. Rejecting a request or removing a friend won't send a notification.

This is a quick summary of the latest items of news about the website. Click the link to read the full article.

Your gold account

If you have a gold account, this will tell you how long your subscription has left, and how long until any locked account names expire.

If you haven't got a gold account or yours is going to expire soon, then you'll see a link to take you to the subscription page.
